Rebirth of Quarries:
Urban Habitats

INTRODUCTION:
This is a project aimed at addressing the issues of building sustainable cities and communities. We envision transforming abandoned quarries into a sustainable, inclusive, and multifunctional community.

BRAINSTORMRESEARCH-SPACEUrban development has transitioned from incremental expansion to stock optimization.WHAT is urban leftover space?WHY can't urban leftover spaces be fully utilized?There are various narrow and irregular plots of land between buildings, making these spaces difficult to plan and utilize.

Polluted land due to various reasons is difficult to use, and the cost of remediation is too high.

The presence of height differences due to varying terrains increases the difficulty of design.

Urban spaces are segmented by elevated roads, and utilizing the space above and below bridges is a major challenge.

There are disputes in the redesign and planning due to the change in the original facilities' purposes.

ReflectionIn this team collaboration, I discovered my leadership skills. As the team leader, I took the time to understand my team members' knowledge backgrounds, personalities, and strengths, and assigned tasks that suited them.

I also have strong teamwork and communication skills. I communicated effectively with my team, and together we overcame challenges, building strong friendships in the process.

My time management skills have improved as well. With just two weeks to complete the project and differing schedules, I created a detailed and flexible time plan, ensuring we finished the work on time and with high quality.

Luckily, our work was selected as the "Outstanding Work" and received a letter of recommendation. I was recognized by the UNESCO Italy Centre as one of the top two participants and invited to the United Nations Regional Annual Conference.
